Dead by Daylight Chapter X: Darkness Among Us DLC (Game, Review)
My host kept eating my review, so I posted it on Twitter instead.
I couldn't sleep so I dove into my Dead by Daylight: Darkness Among Us Review. Then my website ate it. I'm tired of sitting on it. I'm just going to embed this thread later today and walk away.

The TL:DR is that the DLC is bad. The new perks are memes at best (Iron Maiden, Breakdown) and worthless at worst (Aftercare). They're redundant or silly with no in between.

Legion looks cool but is simultaneously under-powered and broken. They move too slow to apply any real pressure, but can also exploit the chase mechanic by not looking at the survivor to guarantee kills with their ability. They're not fun to play or play against.

The developers have stated they are not going to buff the base speed, so Legion is just going to either be broken with the break chase exploit (killers running backwards at survivors so they fall to deep wound is not healthy for the game) or ineffective if it's ever fixed.

This, coupled with a new map that had to be pulled from the game for a few days because it crashed people's computers/game consoles, means the DLC in its current state is just not worth it. The map is back, but it's still not fun to play on and has bad sight lines.

The Unreal Engine update also broke a lot of features--sound for killer no longer has footsteps of survivors, certain add-ons and perks no longer work with certain killers--and made the game so dark I have to use two recoloring programs to see anything.

At least the devs have been willing to admit there are major optimization issues and they are trying to fix the game code. It's not going to be easy as this small indie game grew very quickly with too small a team and they're only just catching up with staffing needs.

I want to still love Dead by Daylight. I've been playing since it came out. I hang out in a lot of Twitch streams of people who mainly play the game. It's just not fun to play right now because of the new DLC and the bugs from the engine update. :(
