Not everyone has an interest in vinyl. My own interest is, at best, passing at this point. You can get music at the click of a button. Why bother with older media technology unless you really want to hear the full frequency range (when modern music so often sticks to a comfortable middle ground)? I collect the vinyl I do collect for two reasons. The first is that the album is not available in any other medium (usually classical or musical theater recordings). The other is as a collector's item. I proudly display my Nightmare Before Christmas vinyl in my home year round because it's beautiful. I own the film on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray. I own the soundtrack on cassette, CD, mp3, cover album (on CD and mp3), and even sheet music editions. I'm a fan of the property, so I collect the merchandise that goes with it.
Now I have two more film soundtracks to add to the collector's vinyl display.
Cho Young-Wuk's note-perfect soundtrack to the original film version of Oldboy is getting a similar limited edition vinyl release. Invada Records is releasing the album in Europe and the United States in two different variations. Europe gets orange vinyl; we get red. Both versions come with a digital download card so you can have an mp3 version of the album, as well.

Meanwhile, Douglas Pipe's eerie score for anthology horror Trick'r Treat is also getting a vinyl release. Waxwork Records is a niche company, for sure, only producing gorgeous vinyl printings of horror film soundtracks. Their current offerings include Rosemary's Baby, Chopping Mall, and Friday the 13th. There is no release date for the Trick'r Treat album yet, but there is beautiful cover art. Look at the Waxwork Records Shop, too.
