Happy Birthday to Me (and Other Updates)

And some say, the fading artists still lurks in the shadows, ready to talk anyone’s ear off who brings up Lucky McKee’s May.

But enough with the ghost stories.

Hello. Hi. How are you? It’s been a minute. My new teaching job is very rewarding and I love it. I just needed to find my sea legs again before really committing to Sketching Details.

It’s also my 37th birthday today. I will be launching the annual #31DaysOfHorror challenge this Saturday. The theme is deadly games. I’m excited for that. I’ll also have my review of Pearl up before the weekend, too.

But today, in honor of my birthday, I launch a new product line.

Meet my manatee. What a Cool Mana-Tee! is my new embroidered product line. This is based on a digital illustration by me, colored in CMY (hold the K) because Cyan, Magenta, Yellow screams hip, cool, and young. You can get this with it manatee on a unisex t-shirt (size XS-5XL), a women’s V-neck tee (size S-4XL), a performance polo (size S-4XL—the aliens will move to this product blank soon), an eco hoodie (size XS-5XL), a beanie, a circular patch, and a heart-shaped patch. All sizes are available in all colors. From experience, I would order up a size on the unisex tee. Everything else runs true to size. Especially the patches. Not much variation in size for an embroidered patch.

Why manatees? Manatees have been my favorite animal for most of my life. I strayed a bit for narwhals a couple years in upper elementary, and I’d drop them like a water balloon if we found living unicorns, but manatees have consistently been my favorite animal. I’ll be ordering a set of the polo shirts for work. I hope other people enjoy the designs enough to order, as well.
