Just Watch It: Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's "Tsukema Tsukeru"

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is the Japanese fashion blogger turned pop singer who released the addictive Lisa Frank-inspired candy-colored video "Ponponpon." Kyary's entire EP is a must-have for silly pop fans, but her music videos allow the more discriminating consumer the chance to experience her fun style for free. Last week, Kyary released her second music video for the single "Tsukema Tsukeru" and it's pretty special. It starts with a visually elaborate but tonally subdued (compared to "Ponponpon," that is) vision of a pale-faced queen being entertained by her dancing lions. About halfway through--when the costumes are stripped off--the video comes alive. The lights are cranked up and the queen joins the dance. It's eclectic.
