I got the call at 9:30 this morning: the rental materials came in for the spring musical. That means I spent the day sorting, sight reading, photocopying, and answering 8 billion questions from students who aren't even playing in the pit orchestra for the show. I finished the copies around 1PM, then spent an hour sorting through reed books to see what instrument played where. 2:30-4:00 was rehearsal, then 4:00 until 15 minutes ago was splitting up four reed books six ways and still not having all the parts covered. Such is the life of an educational theater musical director. This quick cartoon explains it better than words alone.
