The third episode of Sketchy Details @Home is up and it's a doozy. Inspired by Face Off Season 5 Episode 3, I took a nasty black velvet painting found at a yard sale and turned it into an original demon worthy of Insidious. I mention it in the video but it bears repeating: the demon isn't the draw of Insidious; the ghosts are. Like most of the contestants, I combined the ghost aesthetic with some unusual demon imagery and came out with something that made me very happy. This sucker is going to the centerpiece of the night club yard haunt green room, which the trick or treaters will pass through to get their candy.

- I'm a huge fan of Insidious. I think, next to Dead Silence, it's the best horror film James Wan and Leigh Whannel made, Saw included.
- I got so excited when Face Off mentioned an Insidious challenge. Then they wanted demons. Then they picked the two contestants that made Insidious-styled ghosts as the top two for the challenge and all was right with the world.
- I've had this nasty yard sale painting for years. A family member picked it up. My immediate family gave it away. Someone else gave it back to us. It was destiny that I got to redo the entire thing in horror style. Prints might be available someday.
- My brand new cellphone tripod clamp works great. It's the tripod itself that keeps dropping the image out of frame. Apologies. I'm trying to stabilize it better.
- That is my ceramics workshop in the background. It's also my mother's workshop. She teaches lessons there. It's loaded with supplies and super convenient to take over for video shoots and indoor projects.
I'm getting into the swing of things and will be adding the third show of Sketchy Details @YouTube's lineup, The Haunting Ground, this Saturday. That's my straight up home haunting and Halloween inspiration show that will be plundered for the panel at the Geek Creation Show this November. You might also be able to find me at the Chiller Theatre Expo at the Sheraton in Parsippany, NJ on 26 October. The guests are too good to pass up even though I found the show way too crowded for my liking last year. I'll probably enter the horror art contest with this painting and another piece I have in the works. Maybe the costume contest, too, if my Don't Starve cosplay turns out well for NYCC.
