TikTok likes to hide behind its Community Guidelines without explaining an actual reason for a violation. This doesn’t work when the act being punished, linking in the comments (specifically during academic discussions), is not mentioned in the Community Guidelines at all.
TikTok Updated Privacy Policy, Biometrics, and Harmful Targeted Advertising
On 2 June, TikTok declared that they may start collecting biometric data on the app, but would only disclose if they did in regions where legally required to do so. On 4 June, a new update added more pervasive ads to the site that seem to be reacting to biometric data like gender and body shape. Curious.
